6 Strong Points Why Oral Sex Is halal in Islam
31/05/2018-Updated-07/02/2020
Oral sex is not haram in Islam because of the lack of clear textual evidence prohibiting it. The subject of oral sex is another taboo topic among Muslims like masturbation. There are conflicting opinions which have been given and in most cases. not a silver of clear evidence has been given. Oral sex is one of the first acts of sex a couple will start performing when they are starting to have sex and it us unfortunate that in this day and age we have started to see a lot of arguments against oral sex and only a person who does not have any sexual taste will desist oral sex.
The are varying opinions among scholars on whether or not oral sex is halal or not and most of the opinions forbidding oral sex are personal opinions based on biased cultural upbringing. The four madhhabs too are divided on this issue. According to the two main sources of Islam namely the Quran and the authentic hadiths there is no clear mention of oral sex being forbidden and this silence is a clear indication that Islam does not forbid oral sex.
The brainwashing is so severe, stories have emerged anecdotally that some spouses have refused to have oral sex with their partner citing conservative opinions and that in turn has resulted in serious marital problems. If you ask randomly, "is blowjob allowed in Islam" many would say that it is not allowed. Just take the instance of one Islamic magazine known as the Majlis (Majlis ul Ulama-South Africa) magazine which is run by deviant Muslims who have Ashari, Muhtazili, Sufi and many other leanings had to say when asked on What is the Sharia ruling on oral sex and the short answer was,
"It is an inhuman, sub-bestial practice which is not permissible"

In this website and blog of mine, I teach my fellow Muslim brothers and sisters to question such nonsensical fatwas by asking for proof from the Quran and the authentic hadiths. This lunacy is not only limited to a few Muslims but this view is widespread and the most ludicrous thing here is, that like masturbation, oral sex is widely performed among Muslims. In this article, I would like to answer almost all the wrong arguments that are available among the Muslims regarding oral sex.
Point of Argument Number-1-Sexual Fluids Are Halal
One of the main arguments found to despise masturbation is that the seminal fluid and the vaginal fluids are najash(Impure) hence oral sex is haram. This argument has no basis and it’s only the personal opinion of these scholars. The truth is that sexual fluids such as semen is pure. In a hadith
"Aa’ishah (rali) who said: I remember scratching it (semen) from the garment of the Messenger of Allah (sal) thoroughly, and then he prayed in it".
(Sahih Muslim)
“The Messenger of Allaah (sal) used to remove maniy from his garment with a twig of Adhkaar (a kind of tree), then pray in that garment, and he would rub it from his garment once it was dry, and would pray in the same garment.”
(Ibn Khuzaymah in his sahih and classed hasan by Albani in Irwa al ghaleel)
These hadiths prove that semen is not impure and the same could be said about the female fluid known as the urethral fluid because the Prophet (sal) said:
Umm Sulaym (rali), who asked the Prophet (sal) about a woman who sees a dream like a man, sees (i.e., an erotic dream). The Messenger of Allaah (sal) said:
“If a woman sees that, she should do ghusl.” Umm Sulaym said: I felt shy when I heard that. She asked, “Is that possible?” The Prophet (sal) said: “How else would the child resemble his father or mother? The water of the man is thick and white, and the water of the woman is thin and yellow. Whichever of the two prevails or comes first decides which parent the child will resemble.”
(Sahih Muslim)
If the woman drinks the semen of the man and the man in case swallows the wife's fluid it won’t be haram to do so because it’s pure. The exception here would be the gushing water like liquid that sprouts out of a women's vagina due to extreme sexual excitement. This fluid is urine hence its haram to swallow this particular liquid. The strongest evidence for the permissibility of engaging in oral sex is that Islam is silent on this topic. The prophet (sal) said:
“Verily Allah has obligated the obligations – so do not neglect them. And He has limited the limits – so do not transgress them. And His silence about things is from His mercy, not forgetfulness, so do not investigate them.”
(Darqutni and Baihaqi- hasan sahih)
Even modern scientific evidence has found that drinking semen is good for your health. The seminal fluid is rich in protein, fructose, vitamin C, and calcium. Research done by the National Health Service and published (Naghma-E-Rehan, Aquiles J. Sobrero, and John W. Fertig. “The Semen of Fertile Men: Statistical Analysis of 1300 Men”. Obstetrical & Gynecological Survey 31.1 (1976): 52-55. Web. 6 Feb. 2015) claimed that semen may act as an antidepressant when absorbed within the vagina or the mouth and the same study found that exposure to semen is linked to better health in general for individuals. This clearly proves that Islam won’t forbid something that is good for your health. One ting must be noted is that drinking any of the sexual juices must not be forced and it only should be done on mutual consent and understanding. If not a condom which is flavored or not can be used.
The companions were very much aware of oral sex and so was the prophet (sal) but the prophet (sal) never forbade it. You can watch my latest video about oral sex in Islam by clicking below.

The companions were very much aware of oral sex and so was the prophet (sal) but the prophet (sal) never forbade it. You can watch my latest video about oral sex in Islam by clicking below.
Point of Argument Number-2-The Prophet (sal) told to bite the male member (Penis)
The allowance of oral sex is proven with one hadith of the prophet (sal) telling to go bite the male member if someone is boasting about his lineage. This should be understood that biting the male member or in other words, to bite the penis is showing how distasteful the boasting of lineage is. The hadith is as follows:
It was narrated from Ubayy ibn Ka‘b that a man boasted in an ignorant manner of his tribal lineage, so he told him to bite his father’s male member, and he did not use a metaphor. The people looked askance at him, so he said to the people: I can see what you are thinking, and I can only say this: that the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) instructed us: “If you hear someone boasting in an ignorant manner of his tribal lineage, then tell him to bite his father’s male member, and do not use a metaphor.”
(Narrated in Musnad Ahmed-classed as hasan by the commentators on al Musnad).
From the above hadith we know that the prophet (sal) was very much aware of anything that had to do with oral sex but he never forbade it.
Point of Argument Number-3-Sexual Fluids Are Halal-Sucking the clitoris of Al-Lat.
Another hadith proves that the prophet (sal) and his companions knew very well about oral sex and even so, it was not forbidden. Here is another hadith,
Narrated by Narrated Al-Miswar bin Makhrama and Marwan:
‘Urwah ibn Mas‘ood, who came as a negotiator on behalf of the mushrikeen at al-Hudaybiyah, said to the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him): By Allah I see faces, and I see a mixture of people who are most likely going to flee and desert you. Abu Bakr said to him: Suck the clitoris of al-Laat! Would we flee and desert him? He said: Who is that? They said: Abu Bakr.
(Sahih Al Bukhari)
It is clear from the above hadith that Abu-Bakr (rali) insulted the mushrik idol of Lat by saying to Urwah ibn Mas‘ood to suck the clitoris of Al Lat. That is to engage in oral sex with this idol which was worshipped as the daughter of Allah (Indeed Allah is free from all this). Abu Bakr (rali) said this in front of the prophetc (sal) and from this hadith it is clear that oral sex was a known thing and it was not forbidden. Imam Qurtubi said in the tafseer of surah an Noor he said on the thirty first ayah:
“Asbagh, from our ’Ulama, said it is permissible for the man to lick it [i.e.
the vagina] with his tongue.”
(Imam al-Qurtubi, al-Jami’ li-Ahkām il-Qur’ān (Beirut: Dār Ihya Turāth al-’Arabī, 1405 AH/1985 CE), vol.12, p.232).
From the above evidences it is clear that oral sex is not haram in Islam.
Point of Argument Number-4-Hadith Mentioning Sex during Ramazan.
There are authentic hadiths that prove that you can have any form of sex except for having intercourse through penile penetration. The prophet (sal) used to do Mubaasharah (having sexual relations) when he was
Fasting, and would place a cloth between him and her, meaning over the private part.”
(Ahmad and Ibn Khuzaymah in his Sahih.)
And in another hadith the prophet (sal),
"Used to kiss when fasting, touch when fasting, and was the most in control of his desires”
(Bukhari and Muslim)
The above two hadiths were explained by Aisha (rali) when she was asked;
"What is Halaal (permissible) for a man to do with his wife when he is fasting? “She said, “Everything except intercourse.”
Abdir-Razzaaq in his Musannaf with a Sahih isnad is clear that the prophet (sal) used to have sex during Ramazan and the cloth he place was to be a barrier from intercourse not oral sex. From these hadiths it is clear that you can have oral sex during Ramazan without drinking the sexual juices because these juices if drunk can break the fast. Having any kind of ex means oral sex too and you can simply use a condom if you fear that you can drink the sexual juices.
Point of Argument Number-5-Anal licking and sucking
There is no evidence to prove that anal licking or sucking is haram. When it comes to the anus, having penile penetrative intercourse is haram (Any other form of anal sex is halal).
Ibn ‘Abbas (rali) said: The Messenger of Allah (sal) said: “Allah will not look at a man who has intercourse with a woman in her back passage.”
(Tirmidhi-graded Sahih by Albani and Ibn Daqeeq)
If anal licking was haram then it would have been clearly been forbidden. The argument that such a practice is disgusting is only the opinion of some scholars because anal licking can also be done by using dental or anal dams as well. The anus can be cleaned and licking can be enjoyed.
Point of Argument Number-6-Hadith That Debunks That Anal Sex is Animalistic And Copied From The Non Muslims
Some scholars are also of the view that oral sex is an animalistic and disgusting act that has been copied from the disbelieving kuffar. This argument is wrong because if it was disgusting and animalistic then Allah would have forbidden it either in the Quran or through his messenger (sal). Take for an example the practice of having sex with one’s pregnant wife. This was practiced by the Christians and Persians but the prophet (sal) did not forbid it because it did not cause any harm. Sad bin Abi Waqqas (rali) used to practice coitus interrupt us with his wife thinking by doing so it won’t harm her. The prophet (sal) inquired: “why do you do that” He replied: “A man is more apprehensive regarding his child”. The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give peace) said: “If this was harmful, then it would have been harmful to the Persians and Romans.”
(Sahih Muslim)
The statement “A man is more apprehensive regarding his child” is referring to the child in the stomach of the wife. This hadith proves that even by doing the same sexual practices of the kafir if it’s not harmful is allowed in Islam which makes the argument that oral sex is haram because it is copied from the kuffar as a wrong argument. A Muslim should not go in to extremes in making something haram which has been made lawful by Allah. Allah says in the Quran:
"O you who have believed, do not prohibit the good things which Allah has made lawful to you and do not transgress. Indeed, Allah does not like transgressors".
(5:87)
Oral sex is among the safest forms of sex after masturbation and after analyzing all the evidences it is clear that oral sex is not haram in Islam. The answer to "is oral sex allowed in Islam? is that oral sex is completely halal without doubt.
