The Good and Bad of Zakir Naik: 17 Powerful Proofs
By C J Ahmed

Dr Zakir Abdul Kareem Naik is an Indian medical doctor who has been preaching Islam and comparative religion for sometime and has garnered a large following of blind following Muslims and has risen to a cult status
because of his talks being broadcast using his Peace TV satellite channel and many other social media outlets.
Zakir Naik who was born in 1965,started his preaching in the 90's. Zakir Naik has the enthusiasm a Muslim should have to call others to the worship of Allah(Swt) and the study of comparative religion are something which Islam does not forbid.
1. Narrated by Ibn ‘Umar (Rali)
"A Jew and a Jewess were brought to Allah's Apostle on a charge of
committing an illegal sexual intercourse. The Prophet asked them. "What is
the legal punishment (for this sin) in your Book (Torah)?" They replied,
"Our priests have innovated the punishment of blackening the faces with
charcoal and Tajbiya." ‘Abdullah bin Salam said, "O Allah’s Apostle, tell
them to bring the Torah." The Torah was brought, and then one of the Jews
put his hand over the Divine Verse of the Rajam (stoning to death) and
started reading what preceded and what followed it. On that, Ibn Salam said
to the Jew, "Lift up your hand." Behold! The Divine Verse of the Rajam was
under his hand".
(Sahih Al Bukhari)
In this hadith, the prophet (Sal) did not admonish Abdullah ibn Salam (Rali) for telling the prophet (Sal) to tell the Jews to bring the Torah and read it. This and many other narrations prove that you can definitely read the scriptures of other religions. Some foolish Muslims try to criticize Zakir Naik for using the scriptures of other religions and argue that this was not the way of the Salaf. Even imam Ibn Taymiyyah was well versed in various religions and it is clear that he would have got such knowledge by reading such texts. According to these Muslims, even Ibn Taymiyyah and other salaf scholars like Taqi uddin Hilali are all heretics and deviants. The real problem of Zakir Naik lies in his aqeada and manhaj which is deviant and it goes against the true aqeada and the manhaj of the sahaba and the salaf us saliheen. People like Zakir Naik have the intention of spreading the message of Islam which is a good thing and all Muslims should be having this zeal to spread the message of Islam. Now the question is, is only having the zeal enough to spread the message of Islam? the simple answer is no. You cannot spread the message of Islam only by having a good intention and zeal. If we take the Tabligh Jamath for instance, they have the enthusiasm to spread Islam but they themselves are ignorant in Islam and only call people for prayers and tell people to engage in many innovated practices. It is a duty of every Muslim to do dawah according to his knowledge and ability. Allah (Swt) says in the Quran,
2. "Invite (all) to the Way of thy Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching; and argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious: for thy Lord knoweth best, who have strayed from His Path, and who receive guidance"
(Al-Quran-16:125)
Islam encourages to learn Islam fromm the Kibarul ulama (the senior scholars who posess the correct knowledge) and warns about the dangers of blindly following and taking knowledge from the young ones who are ignorant.
3. Al-Qaasim Ibn Usbugh narrated that Umar (Rali) said,
“The Deen will be corrupted if it comes by way of the young and the seniors refuse to learn it, and the people will become righteous if they take their knowledge from their seniors and they – i.e. the seniors- are followed by the young,”
(As-Sindee in his Musannaf-Graded Sahih by Imam Ibn Hajar al Asqalanee in Fath ul Bari)
The above hadith warns of the dangers of taking religion from young people and it does not mean that you should not take any knowledge from a young person. This should not be misunderstood because you can take anything from a young person as long as he or she is telling from the Quran and Sahih hadiths. If it is in the Quran and the authentic hadiths then that is what;s said in Islam. The same can be said about taking knowledge from old people. The following hadith proves that you can take knowledge from young persons.
4. Narrated Ibn `Abbas(Rali),
"Umar used to admit me (into his house) along with the old men who had fought in the Badr battle. Some of them said (to `Umar), "Why do you allow this young man to enter with us, while we have sons of his own age? " `Umar said, "You know what person he is." One day `Umar called them and called me along with them, I had thought he called me on that day to show them something about me (i.e. my knowledge). `Umar asked them, "What do you say about (the Sura): "When comes the help of Allah and the Conquest (of Mecca) And you see mankind entering the Religion of Allah (i.e. Islam) in crowds. 'So celebrate the Praises Of your Lord and ask for His forgiveness, Truly, He is the One Who accepts repentance and forgives." (110.1-3) Some of them replied, "We are ordered to praise Allah and repent to Him if we are helped and granted victory." Some said, "We do not know." Others kept quiet. `Umar then said to me, "Do you say similarly?" I said, "No." `Umar said "What do you say then?" I said, "This Verse indicates the approaching of the death of Allah's Messenger (Sal) of which Allah informed him. When comes the help of Allah and the Conquest, i.e. the Conquest of Mecca, that will be the sign of your Prophet's) approaching death, so testify the uniqueness of your Lord (i.e. Allah) and praise Him and repent to Him as He is ready to forgive." On that, `Umar said, "I do not know about it anything other than what you know."
(Sahih-Al-Bukhari)
In the above hadith,Umar(Rali) told the old men when they asked him why he allowed young Ibn Abbas to be in their company, Umar (Rali) replied
"You know what person he is." meaning that although Ibn Abbas9Rali) was young he was knowledgeful and Umar(Rali) accepted Ibn Abbas (Rali)'s explanation and never said that young people cannot teach or preach to old people. Zakir Naik unfortunately has not grasped the right comprehension in Islam and has instead used ilm ul kalam (science of logic) to put forward arguments relating to aqeada and the unseen and has deviated greatly on it.
5. Abd Khayr narrated that Ali (Rali) said,
“If the religion were based upon one’s opinion, one might expect the bottom of the leather sock to be wiped instead of the top. I have seen the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, wiping over the upper part of his leather socks.”
(Abu-Dawud-Graded Sahih by Sheikh Albani)
There is nothing wrong in using logic to explain issues. Even the prophet(Sal) used logical examples to prove certain points as reported in several authentic hadiths but Zakir Naik has deviated from the path of true Islam by using logic to even explain the Ghayb (unseen) which only Allah(Swt) knows.
6. Allah (Swt) says in the Quran,
“Say: “None in the heavens and the earth knows the Ghaib (Unseen) except Allah, nor can they perceive when they shall be resurrected”
(Al-Quran-27:65)
Zakir Naik's ignorance is causing more damage than good in dawah and next, Ill inshaAllah explain about the deviancies of Zakir Naik. Below is one video of Zakir Naik which would be interesting for you.

(Al-Quran-27:65)
Zakir Naik's ignorance is causing more damage than good in dawah and next, Ill inshaAllah explain about the deviancies of Zakir Naik. Below is one video of Zakir Naik which would be interesting for you.
7. Zakir Naik says that Allah cannot do a thousands things
Zakir Naik's aqeada is venomous and dangerous because he has a very large following and millions of Muslims across the world fall hook line and sinker to his oratory and there could be nothing more than to deny Allah (Swt)'s attributes and say that Allah cannot do a thousand things.
8. This is what Zakir Naik said,
"Normally, I pose this question to most of the people who believe in god so that they can have a better understanding of Allah subhanau wa tahala. I ask them the question, "can god create anything and everything?" most of them will say "Yes"." Can god destroy anything and everything?" all will say "Yes". My third question is, "can god create a thing which he cannot destroy?" and they are trapped. If they says yes god can create a thing which he cannot destroy, they are going against the second statement that god can destroy everything. If they say, 'No" god cannot create a thing which he cannot destroy, that means they are going against the first statement, that god can create everything. Again, they are not using their logic. They are trapped"
(Video taken from a third party youtube channel Link-
https://youtu.be/Iik4Vw5B6Dw?t=43 (0.43-1.31))
This is clear Kufr and deniance of Allah(Swt)'s attributes.
9. Allah(Swt) says,
'There is nothing in the heavens or on earth is beyond Allah's capability.Verily, he is all knowing,All capable"
(Al-Quran-35:44)
10. Zakir Naik further said as follows,
" There are a thousand things I can list which god almighty can't do"
(Video taken from a third party youtube channel Link-
https://youtu.be/Iik4Vw5B6Dw?t=123 (2:03-2:07))
Zakir Naik is using logic and rethoric to prove his deviant points. In this video he says that Allah can create a tall man or a short man but Allah cannot create a tall short man. I would like to ask him how come you came to know about this? If Allah azza wa jal is capable of everything then he is indeed capable of everything. Just because we as human beings cannot comprehend something does not mean that Allah(Swt) cannot do it. Zakir Naik has clearly become a heretic by spreading such filth. Allah (Swt) forbids looking in to the unseen matters which only Allah knows.
11. Allah (Swt) says,
“And to Allaah belong the most beautiful Names, so call upon Him using them. Abandon those who commit ilhaad (deviate) regarding His Names. They shall be recompensed for what they do.”
(Al-Quran-7:180)
12. And further Allah(Swt) says,
“Verily, those who commit ilhaad (deviate) regarding our ayaat (verses, signs) are not hidden from Us. Is the one cast into the Fire better than one who attains safety on the Day of Judgment?”
(Al-Quran-41:40)
Zakir Naik is denying the names and attributes of Allah and this is a dangerous and deviant aqeada that was promoted by the Ashari and the Muhtazili as well as the Jahmiyyah sects. Zakir Naik also said the following in another video.
"First, they ask a believer in god whether Muslim, non Muslim,Christian or whatever it is, that can god,can Allah create anything and everything? and the normal answer is, "Yes". The second question is, can god,can Allah lift anything and everything? and the answer is,"Yes". 99.9 percent unless they are intelligent or unless they have watched my speeches, 99.99 percent will say"Yes". The third question is, can Allah create a stone which he cannot lift? now, if he says yes,is answer is wrong and he is trapped. Heads I win, tail you lose. Heads I win, tail you lose that means, he always will win. Because he says yes Allah can create a stone which he cannot lift, my second answer was, Allah can make anything and everything that means he cannot lift the stone now. So, the second answer was wrong. Now, If I say Allah cannot create a stone which he cannot lift, that means my first answer is wrong that is, Allah can create anything and everything. Now, normally this is a fallacy among the theists"
(Video taken from a third party youtube channel.Link-https://youtu.be/f4K_sxkgHu8?t=29 (0:29-1:45))
In this statement, Zakir Naik is not only denying that Allah(Swt) is capable of everything, he is saying that believing so is a fallacy. In a recent video too Zakir Naik still believes in this deviant ideology and the video can be watched by clicking this link https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Yf5lm3aDhgY . Zakir Naik is denying the teachings of Islam and has instead used philosophical arguments like that of the Greeks and other Kuffar to put forward his deviant and foolish arguments. Zakir Naik is so ignorant, he has misunderstood that Allah cannot do certain things. The truth is, Allah is capable of everything but he won't do certain things like doing injustice to anyone. There is a difference between won't do and can't do and it is clear that Zakir Naik is totally ignorant about the true aqeada in Islam. If someone asks if Allah(Swt) can create a stone which he cannot lift, the correct answer is, Allah(Swt) is capable of everything and these are things which are beyond human comprehension and the example for this is that Allah has created we human beings and some animals in a way that makes us to sleep lying, But at the same time, Allah with his wisdom has created animals such as horses and elephants to sleep while standing. This is how great Allah(Swt) is and this proves that he is capable of anything. No one with an iota of intelligence will ask how elephants, zebras and horses could sleep while standing because these animals have been created and strengthened by Allah(Swt) in a way that makes them capable of sleeping while standing. The other example is the bat. The bat can sleep upside down which an elephant or horse or human being cannot. Now, Just imagine what would be the outcome if an elephant or horse tried to sleep upside down, these animals would be vulnerable to other predators . This is how beautifully Allah has created everything. Now, let's suppose that Allah created every living being that makes them sleep only by lying down, does that mean that Allah is not capable of creating living beings to sleep in other positions like standing or upside down? No.
13. Anas(Rali) narrated,
"A man said, "O Allah's Prophet! Will a Kafir (disbeliever) be gathered (driven prone) on his face?" The Prophet (Sal) said, "Is not He Who made him walk with his legs in this world, able to make him walk on his face on the Day of Resurrection?" (Qatada, a sub-narrator said: Yes, (He can), by the Power of Our Lord!")
(Sahih-Al-Bukhari)
This false argument of Zakir Naik is so dangerous, this would even make people ask foolish questions like can Allah have children or can Allah create a family for himself. Stick where the Quran and the sahih hadiths tell us to stick and stick to the understanding of the Sahaba and the Salaf who never questioned unseen things. Even scientists say that you should not ask the question" what existed before the big bang" because they say that the human mind has no knowledge or understanding to know what existed what existed before the big bang.
14. Sheikh Salih al Fawzan was asked about Zakir Naik and he replied,
"This (person) is a mulhid (deviant) the one who says these things is a mulhid (deviant) regarding the Names and Attributes of Allah.
“And to Allaah belong the most beautiful Names, so call upon Him using them. Abandon those who commit ilhaad (deviate) [1] regarding His Names. They shall be recompensed for what they do.”
(Al-Quran-7:180)
“Verily, those who commit ilhaad regarding our aayaat (verses, signs) are not hidden from Us. Is the one cast into the Fire better than one who attains safety on the Day of Judgment?”
(Al-Quran- 41:40)
Someone says that Allah is not able to do all things… Exalted be Allaah! Allaah says:
“And Allaah is able to do all things”
(Al-Quran-2:284)
How many Verses have [what means]: “And Allaah is able to do all things,” or, “Verily Allaah is able to do all things”? How many Verses!?
Allah has not mentioned any limit to His Divine Ability, (He has) unrestricted Capability, over all things. (He is) able to do all things. He is Knowledgeable of all things. He, the Exalted and Most High, has not mentioned any limits.
And you come and limit this?! Would you say, “No, there are some things that Allaah does not know, and I know them!”
This is a kind of ilhaad (Deviancy) regarding the Names and Attributes of Allah.
It is not that every preacher is upon truth. Listen to the speech of the Messenger:
“Callers at the gates of Hell…”
(Bukhari and Muslim)
It is not that every preacher is upon truth.

15. Zakir Naik promoting other deviant callers.
Apart from the major deviancies I have mentioned above about brother Zakir Naik ,may Allah(Swt) rectify him and admit him and I and all the the Muslim Ummah to Jannat ul Firdous there are other deviations of Zakir Naik like joining with deviant people to propagate Islam which is the manhaj(methodolog) of the Ikhwan ul Muslimeen.
Zakir Naik's aqeada is venomous and dangerous because he has a very large following and millions of Muslims across the world fall hook line and sinker to his oratory and there could be nothing more than to deny Allah (Swt)'s attributes and say that Allah cannot do a thousand things.

(In this image, Zakir Naik's peace tv channel is promoting deviants like Abdurraheem Green, Yusuf Estes and others. You can read the full article about Yusuf Estes by clicking here https://cjislam.weebly.com/yusuf-estes-his-beliefs-and-support-of-the-shia.html)
16. The prophet (Sal) warned about deviant callers.
Ibn Masud (Rali) narrated,
The prophet (Sal) drew a line in the sand with his hand and he said, “This is the straight path of Allah.” Then, the Prophet drew lines to the right and left, and he said, “These are other paths, and there is no path among them but that a devil is upon it calling to its way.” Then the Prophet recited the verse, “Verily, this is the straight path, so follow it and do not follow other ways.” (6:153) "
(Musnad Ahmed-Graded Sahih by Ahmed Shakir)
Zakir Naik has defended Islam with his extensive knowledge in comparative religion in which may Allah reward him but at the same time he has deviated from the straight path and have gone astray and may Allah rectify him.
17. The prophet (Sal) said,
“You are today in a time of many Scholars and few speakers. So whoever abandons even a tenth of what he knows is ruined. There will come after that a time of many (ignorant) speakers wherein the Scholars are few. So whoever holds fast to even a tenth of what he knows will be saved.”
(Tirmidhi,Musnad Ahmed and other- Graded Sahih by in As-Sahihah no. 2510)
May Allah(Swt) proptect the Muslim Ummah from the deviations of Dr Zakir Naik and others who use their own opinions and logic to fool the public. For any Muslim who wants to come to the truth, he or she should stick to the Quran and the Sahih hadiths and get away from all the sects and deviant individuals.
