C.J Ahmed-10.06.2023
There is nothing wrong in men wearing platinum rings. Although there is a difference of opinion on men wearing gold, wearing any other metal including platinum is completely halal.
Silver For Men
wearing silver is not haram. Even the prophet (sal) wore silver.
Narrated Anas:
“The ring of the Prophet (sal) was of silver, and its stone was of silver too.” (Muslim)
Narrated Anas ibn Malik:
“The pommel of the sword of the Messenger of Allah (sal) was of silver.” (Abu-Dawud-Graded Sahih by Albani)
Narrated Anas:
“The signet-ring of the Prophet (sal) was of silver with an Abyssinian stone.” (Abu Dawud-Graded Sahih by Albani)
Narrated Anas:
“The signet-ring of the Prophet (sal) was all of silver as was also its stone.” (Abu Dawud-Graded Sahih by Albani)
Men Wearing Gold
Gold although is generally considered to be forbidden for men, still wearing gold in smaller amounts is not haram due to the below hadiths,
Mu'awiya said “God’s messenger forbade riding on panther-skins and wearing gold, except in small pieces.” (Abu Dawud and Nasai-Graded Sahih by Albani)
In another hadith a companion had a golden cup with him and the pophet (al) did not forbid keeping the gold cup.
Narrated Abdullah Ibn Abbas:
A man from Banu Sahm went out with Tamim ad-Dari and Adi ibn Badda'. The man of Banu Sahm died in the land where no Muslim was present. When they returned with his inheritance, they (the heirs) did not find a silver cup with lines of gold (in his property). The Messenger of Allah (sal) administered on oath to them. The cup was then found (with someone) at Mecca. They said: We have bought it from Tamim and Adi.
Then two men from the heirs of the man of Banu Sahm got up and swore saying: Our witness is more reliable than their witness. They said that the cup belonged to their man.
He (Ibn Abbas) said: The following verse was revealed about them: "O ye who believe! when death approaches any of you....." (Bukhari)
