Why a Muslim Kissing a Non-Muslim is Halal in Islam
C.J Ahmed-16.05.2023
Kissing is a natural form of showing effection and respect and Islam does not forbid a Muslim from kissing a non-Muslim and vice verse.
Narrated Al-Bara' ibn Azib:
I went in with AbuBakr when he had newly come to Medina and he found his daughter Aisha lying down afflicted with fever. AbuBakr went to her, and saying: How are you, girlie? kissed her on the cheek.(Abu Dawud-Graded Sahih by Albani)
Narrated Usayd ibn Hudayr,:
AbdurRahman ibn AbuLayla, quoting Usayd ibn Hudayr, a man of the Ansar, said that while he was given to jesting and was talking to the people and making them laugh, the Prophet (sal) poked him under the ribs with a stick. He said: Let me take retaliation. He said: Take retaliation. He said: You are wearing a shirt but I am not. The Prophet (sal) then raised his shirt and the man embraced him and began to kiss his side. Then he said: This is what I wanted, Messenger of Allah! (Abu Dawud-Graded Sahih by Alba ni)
Kissing is a form of touching another person using the lips and this is not haram before marriage because Even the prophet (sal) touched the hand of a slave woman. Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:
“A slave girl of Madīnah would take hold of the hand of the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and would take him wherever she wished” (Bukhari)
According to Islam, sexual intercourse is the entering of the two private parts. If anything happens other than this, is not a major sin an d is on ly a minor sin . There is very clear evidence from authentic hadiths to prove this which I wouldn’t like to go in detail in this particular article.
Now the other question is, whether kissing non-mahram is allowed and the answer is yes, it is allowed. Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:
“A slave girl of Madīnah would take hold of the hand of the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and would take him wherever she wished” (Bukhari)
Kissing is a form of touching another person using the lips and this is not haram because Even the prophet (sal) touched the hand of a slave woman as evident from the above hadith. Kissing a woman with good intentions without lust is not haram because The prophet(Sal) said,
"Actions are according to intentions, and everyone will get what was intended" (Bukhari and Muslim)
