Is Wearing Balenciaga Haram or Halal in Islam?
C.J Ahmed-14.06.2023
Balenciaga is a Spanish a luxury fashion clothing brand and wearing such clohes is not haramin Islam. Wearing fine clothes from brands such as Balenciaga if you could afford is not haram because Allah (swt) loves beauty.
Abd-Allah ibn Mas’ud, who narrated that the Prophet (sal) said:
“No one will enter Paradise who has an atom’s-weight of pride in his heart.” A man said, “What if a man likes his clothes to look good and his shoes to look good?” He said, “Allah is beautiful and loves beauty. Pride means denying the truth and looking down on people.” (Sahih Muslim)
Wearing good clothes is a sign of Allah (swt)’s blessings on his slave.
Amr bin Shu`aib on the authority of his father and grandfather reported:
The Messenger of Allah (sal) said, "Allah loves to see the sign of His Bounties on his slave."(Tirmidhi-Graded Hasan Sahih by Imam Tirmidhi)
Some might argue that wearing branded clothing is extravagance but the above hadiths prove otherwise.
Narrated by Abu Hurayrah (rali), the prophet (sal) said:
""While Job was naked, taking a bath, a swarm of gold locusts fell on him and he started collecting them in his garment. His Lord called him, 'O Job! Have I not made you rich enough to need what you see? He said, 'Yes, O Lord! But I cannot dispense with your Blessing."'
(Sahih al-Bukhari)
Cannot Rush to Judge Muslims Based on What They Wear
Some might argue that men who wear jewellery or clothes which are worn by women such as bangles or bracelets are worn by effeminate men and this is not true because even masculine men wear bangles. Effeminacy is subjective and nowadays effeminacy is an umbrella term used to insult men based on what is accepted by society and not what is forbidden or not in Islam. We cannot tear open a man’s chest and see his intentions.
Usamah ibn Zayd reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, sent us on an expedition. In the morning we attacked Al-Huraqat of Juhaynah. I caught hold of a man and he said, “There is no God but Allah!” I stabbed him anyway. Then, it occurred to me that I should mention that to the Prophet. The Prophet said, “Did he say ‘there is no God but Allah’ but you killed him?” I said, “O Messenger of Allah, he only said it because he feared the weapon!” The Prophet said, “Did you tear open his heart to know if he meant it or not?” The Prophet continued repeating it to me until I had wished I had not embraced Islam until that day. (Sahih Muslim)
In certain African tribes for an exaple, men wear bangles and it is never taken as assign as effeminacy. Effeminacy is more of a perception created using thought biases in a stigmatized society which is utterly ignorant to even the bsic teachings of Islam. If Muslims are so knowledgeful in the teachings of Islam, they will never forcibly circumcised their children , both boys and girls or force their children especially girls to mrry with out their consent but this barbaric practices is done as an ignorant cultural practice.
There is no evidence to prove that wearing shoes or clothing of the non-Muslims is haram . What Islam has forbidden is to imitate the non-Muslims. Wearing Adidas is not haram for a Muslim.
