Why Touching Wife Breast is Halal While Fasting in Ramadan
C.J Ahmed-21.04.2023
There is nothing wrong in touching the breast of your wife while fating and your fasting will not be nullified. The reason for this is, even the prophet (sal) touched his wives while he was fasting.
Narrated by Aisha (Rali), “The prophet (Sal) would have sexual relations when he was Fasting, and would place a cloth between him and her, meaning over the private part.”
(Reported by Ahmad and Ibn Khuzaymah in his Saheeh. Its Isnad is Good (Jayyid)).
In another hadith,
“He (the Prophet, Sallallaahu alayhi wa Sallam) used to kiss when fasting, touch when fasting, and was the most in control of his desires”
(Sahih Al-Bukhari, Muslim, and others).
The above hadiths prove from the actions of the prophet (Sal) that kissing or engaging in sexual activities is not haram while fasting. These hadiths prove clearly that doing anything and even sex even if you ejaculate semen or other female secretion, would not invalidate the fast and there is no kaffara for this.
Some might try to argue by mentioning the following hadith where the prophet (sal) said ,
"Whoever does not give up forged speech and evil actions, Allah is not in need of his leaving his food and drink”. (Bukhari).
The word “desire” and evil deeds are used to come up with an opinion that sex or masturbation invalidates fasting. This argument is totally wrong because the word “desire” or evil actions” are speaking in general terms and not in specific terms. Desire could mean anything so does evil actions. Taking a word that is general and giving your own interpretation based on implications and assumptions are arguments that have no basis in Islam. Desire is what the Quran and the authentic hadiths mention as desire and is kissing and making love was something wrong and prohibited, the prophet(sal) would not have kissed or engaged in se with his wives. Ibn Hazm in his Muhalla mentioned an authentic hadith which was declared as Athar Sahih (meaning an authentic hadith from a companion)
“That a man came to Ibn ‘Abbas and said to him, ‘I just got married to my beautiful paternal cousin, and I consummated the marriage in Ramadaan. So is it permissible for me, Bi Abee wa Ummee (I am willing to sacrifice my father and mother, (a common Arab phrase)), to kiss her?’ Ibn ‘Abbas said to him, ‘Can you control yourself?’ He said, ‘Yes.’ He said, ‘Kiss her.’ He said, ‘Bi Abee wa Ummee, can I touch her?’ He said, ‘Can you control yourself?’ He said, ‘Yes.’ He said, ‘Then touch her.’ He said, ‘Can I touch her private part with my hand?’ He said, ‘Can you control yourself?’ He said, ‘Yes.’ He said, ‘Touch it"
Islam is a very easy religion and is is hard to control your sexual desires while fasting and Msulims should be more pragmatic and easygoing when following Islam. Abu Huraira reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said,
“Whoever is kind, affable, and easy-going, Allah will forbid him from entering Hellfire.” (al-Sunan al-Kubrá lil-Bayhaqī 20806-Graded authentic by Sheikh Albani)
Abdullah ibn Mughaffal reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Verily, Allah is gentle and he loves gentleness. He gives for it what is not given for harshness.”(Abu-Dawud- Grded Sahih by Albani)
Ibn Abbas reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said,
“Teach others, make things easy, and do not make things difficult. When one of you is angry, he should remain silent.” (Musnad Ahmed- Graded Sahih by Ahmed Shakir)
Ibn Mas’ud reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said,
“Shall I not tell you of one forbidden for Hellfire or Hellfire is forbidden for him? It is everyone accessible, polite, and easy-going.”(Tirmidhi-Graded Sahih by Imam Tirmidhi and Sheikh Albani)
It is not haram to touch your wife or wives while fasting during the month of Ramadan or while fasting non mandatory fasts.
