C.J Ahmed-13.05.2023
Hair transplant is simply to transplant hair follicles takn from one part of the body and transplanted to the area effected by hait loss. This technique is used effectively to treat male pattern baldness and gives an aesthetically pleasing look and makes you look younger and good looking. There is nothing haram in Islam in undergoing hair transplant procedures. Male baldness has always been a problem for men and the below hadith too emphasizes this fact,
Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Verily, there were three among the children of Israel whom Allah Almighty intended to test: a leper, a bald man, and a blind man. He sent an angel to them and he came to the leper, saying: What would you love most? The leper said: I want a beautiful color and beautiful skin, for people have shunned me. The angel wiped over him and it had gone away, then he was given a beautiful color and beautiful skin. The angel said: Which property would you love most? The man said: Camels. Thus, he was given a pregnant camel. The angel said: May Allah bless you in it. The angel came to the bald man, saying: What would you love most? The bald man said: Beautiful hair and to be rid of this, for people have shunned me. The angel wiped over him and it had gone away, then he was given beautiful hair. The angel said: Which property would you love most? The man said: Cows. Thus, he was given a pregnant cow. The angel said: May Allah bless you in it. The angel came to the blind man, saying: What would you love most? The blind man said: For Allah to return my sight so I can see people. The angel wiped over him, then Allah returned his sight. The angel said: Which property would you love most? The man said: Sheep. Thus, he was given a pregnant sheep. The animals had grown and given birth such that one man had a valley of camels, another had a valley of cows, and another had a valley of sheep. Then, the angel came to the former leper while disguised in the shape and appearance of a leper, saying: I am a poor man, bereft of my livelihood while on a journey, none can take care of my needs today but Allah and then you, so I ask by the One who gave you beautiful color and beautiful skin and a wealth of camels to help me reach my destination! The man said: I have many duties. The angel said to him: It is as if I recognize you, were you not a leper shunned by people, in poverty, but Allah gave this to you? The man said: I have inherited it from my forefathers. The angel said: If you are lying, then may Allah return you to what you were before! The angel came to the former bald man in a similar appearance, saying the same as he had said to the leper and the man responded the same way. The angel said: If you are lying, then may Allah return you to what you were before! The angel came to the blind man in a similar form, saying: I am a poor man and wayfarer, bereft of my livelihood while on a journey, none can take care of my needs today but Allah and then you, so I ask by the One who returned your sight and gave you sheep to help me reach my destination! The man said: I was once a blind man and Allah returned my sight, I was poor and He enriched me, so take whatever you wish for, by Allah, I will not dispute you today in whatever you take for Allah’s sake. The angel said: Keep your property, for I was only sent to test you and Allah is pleased with you but angry with your two companions.” (Bukhari and Muslim)
The Misunderstanding of The Hadith of Changing Allah(swt)’s Creation
Some peope think that even ding hair transplant is haram because you are changing Allah(swt) ‘s creation. First of all I would like to ask them what thy mean by changing Allah’s creation. The hdith or hadiths often used is the hadith of In Masud (rali) which is only Ibn Masud’s opinion.
Narrated Ibn Masud:
Allah has cursed those women who practise tattooing or get it done for themselves, and those who remove hair from their faces, and those who create spaces between their teeth artificially to look beautiful, such ladies as change the features created by Allah. Why then shall I not curse those whom Allah's Messenger (sal) has cursed and who are cursed in Allah's Book too?” (Bukhari)
The above hadith is the opinion of Ibn Masud (rali) and cannot be attributed to the prophet (sal). There are other variations as well.
Abdullah reported that Allah had cursed those women who tattooed and who have themselves tattooed, those who pluck hair from their faces and those who make spaces between their teeth for beautification changing what God has created. This news reached a woman of the tribe of Asad who was called Umm Ya'qub and she used to recite the Holy Qur'an. She came to him and said:
“What is this news that has reached me from you that you curse those women who tattooed and those women who have themselves tattooed, the women who pluck hair from their faces and who make spaces between their teeth for beautification changing what God has created? Thereupon 'Abdullah said: Should I not curse one upon whom Allah's Messenger (sal) has invoked curse and that is in the Book also. Thereupon that woman said: I read the Qur'an from cover to cover, but I did not find that in it. whereupon he said: If you had read (thoroughly) you would have definitely found this in that (as) Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, has said:" What Allah's Messenger brings for you accept that and what he has forbidden you, refrain from that." That woman said: I find this thing in your wife even now. Thereupon he said: Go and see her. She reported: I went to the wife of 'Abdullah but found nothing of this sort in her. She came back to him and said: I have not seen anything. whereupon he said: Had there been anything like it in her, I would have never slept with her in the bed.” (Sahih Muslim)
It was narrated that ‘Abd-Allaah said: “Allaah has cursed the women who do tattoos and those who ask for tattoos to be done, those who ask for their eyebrows to be plucked, and the women ask for their teeth to be filed for the purpose of beautification, changing the creation of Allaah.” A woman from the tribe of Bani Asad whose name was Umm Ya’qoob heard of that and she came and said, “I have heard that you have cursed So and so and So and so.” He said, “Why should I not curse those whom the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) cursed and who are mentioned in the Book of Allaah?’ She said, “I have read what is between the two covers [of the Qur’aan], and I did not find anything in it like what you have said.” He said, “If you have read it, have you not read that Allaah says,
‘And whatsoever the Messenger (Muhammad) gives you, take it; and whatsoever he forbids you, abstain (from it)’
[al-Hashr 59:7]?”
She said, “Of course.” He said, “He forbade that.” She said, “I think your wife does it.” He said, “Go and look.” So she went and looked and she did not see what she was looking for. He said, “If she had been like that, she would not be with us.”(Bukhari)
In all of these hadiths it is narrated by Abdullah Ibn Masud and he is attributing it to the prophet (sal) without narrating a narration directly stating that the prophet (sal) said or cursed making gaps on the teeth for women. This is only the opinion of Ibn Masud (rali).
