Can a Muslim Husband and Wife Kiss? Yes, and Here is Why
C.J Ahmed-14.04.2023
Islam does not forbid spouses from kissing and there is nothing stting that it is haram t do so. Even whie fastng the prophet (sal) used to kiss his wives.
Narrated `Aisha:
The Prophet (sal) used to kiss and embrace (his wives) while he was fasting, and he had more power to control his desires than any of you. Said Jabir, "The person who gets discharge after casting a look (on his wife) should complete his fast."(Bukhari)
Narrated One of the Wives of the Prophet:
Ikrimah reported on the authority of one of the wives of the Prophet (sal) saying: When the Prophet (sal) wanted to do something (i.e. kissing, embracing) with (his) menstruating wife, he would put a garment on her private part. (Au Dawud- Graded Sahih by Albani)
You can do anything with your spouse and Allah (swt) says,
“Your wives are a tilth for you, so go to your tilth, when or how you will, and send before you for your ownselves” (Al-Quran-2:223)
There are weak and fabricated hadiths which state that looking at the wife’s private parts is haram. One such hadith is as follows,
Abbas and Abu Hurayrah according to which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “When any one of you has intercourse with his wife, let him not look at her private parts, because this causes blindness, and let him not speak, because this causes muteness.”(al-Mawdu’at by Ibn al-Jawzi, 2/271-272- Ibn Jawzi stated that this hadith is a fabricated hadith)
There are several weak and inauthentic hadiths which state that the prophet (sall) never looked at his wife, Aisha (rali)’s private and vice verse. The hadiths are as follows,
A'isha said, “I never looked at (or, I never saw) God’s Messenger’s private parts.” –This hadith was narrated by Ibn Majah and Sheikh Albani graded it daif (weak)
A’isha said:
“I never looked at the private parts of Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace).” (Or she said: “I never saw the private parts of Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace).”-This hadith was narrated in Ash-Shama'il Al-Muhammadiyah 358 and is a weak narration due to its it’s narrator, Zubair `Aliza'I been weak and this hadith was not narrated directy from Aisha (rali). It was narrated from a slave of Aisha(rali).
Aishah said: "I never looked at (or I never saw) the private part of the Messenger of Allah."(Ibn Majah-This hadith is also weak and one of the narrators Abu Bakr also know as Ibn Abu Shaibah said: "Abu Nu'aim would say: '(From) a freed female slave of 'Aisha (rali) and it wasn’t directly narrated from her. None of the hadiths which state that prophet (sal) never saw Aisha (rali)’s private is weak and the hadiths are not at all authentic.
