Why Selling ZamZam Water is Not Haram in Islam
C.J Ahmed-15.06.2023
There is no evidence clearly suggesting that selling Zam Zam water is haram in Islam.
The Prophet (sal) said, “Verily Allah has obligated the obligations – so do not neglect them. And He has limited the limits – so do not transgress them. And His silence about things is from His mercy, not forgetfulness, so do not investigate them.”
(Hasan sahih-Ad-Darqutni No. 4/199 and Al-Baihaqi No. 10/122 and also graded Sahih by Sheikh Albani)
All the major scholars regard selling Zam Zam water as permissible.
Shiekh Bin Baz said the following,
“There is nothing wrong with selling Zamzam water or transporting it from Makkah” (Majmoo‘ Fataawa Ibn Baaz (16/138))
Jabir Ibn Abdullah (rali) narrated that the prophet (sal) sai,
“The water of Zamzam is for whatever it is drunk for.”(Ibn Majah with a Hasan isnad)
