C.J Ahmed-20.05.2023
Eating Camel meat is not haram in Islam. The prophet (sal) and his companions too ate Camel meat.
Narrated Rafi` bin Khadij:
We used to offer the `Asr prayer with the Prophet (sal and slaughter a camel, the meat of which would be divided in ten parts. We would eat the cooked meat before sunset. (Bukhari)
Narrated `Ali:
The Prophet (sal) ordered me to supervise the (slaughtering) of Budn (Hadi camel) and to distribute their meat, skins and covering sheets in charity and not to give anything (of their bodies) to the butcher as wages for slaughtering. (Bukhari)
Jabir said they were not accustomed to eat the flesh of their sacrificial camels for more than three days, but God’s messenger gave them licence saying, “Eat and preserve the meat,” so they did so.”(Bukhari and Muslim)
Narrated Muharib bin Dithar:
Jabir bin `Abdullah said, "When Allah's Messenger (sal) arrived at Medina, he slaughtered a camel or a cow." Jabir added, "The Prophet (sal) bought a camel from me for two Uqiyas (of gold) and one or two Dirhams. When he reached Sirar, he ordered that a cow be slaughtered and they ate its meat. When he arrived at Medina, he ordered me to go to the Mosque and offer two rak`at, and weighed (and gave) me the price of the camel." (Bukhari)
Narrated Al-Bara' ibn Azib:
The Messenger of Allah (sal) was asked about performing ablution after eating the flesh of the camel. He replied: Perform ablution, after eating it. He was asked about performing ablution after eating meat. He replied: Do not perform ablution after eating it. He was asked about saying prayer in places where the camels lie down. He replied: Do not offer prayer in places where the camels lie down. These are the places of Satan. He was asked about saying prayer in the sheepfolds. He replied: You may offer prayer in such places; these are the places of blessing.(Abu Dawud-Graded Sahih by Albani)
Narrated 'Abaya bin Rafa'a bin Raft' bin Khadij:
My grandfather said, "We were in the company of the Prophet (sal) at Dhul-Hulaifa. The people felt hungry and captured some camels and sheep (as booty). The Prophet (sal) was behind the people. They hurried and slaughtered the animals and put their meat in pots and started cooking it. (When the Prophet came) he ordered the pots to be upset and then he distributed the animals (of the booty), regarding ten sheep as equal to one camel. One of the camels fled and the people ran after it till they were exhausted. At that time there were few horses. A man threw an arrow at the camel, and Allah stopped the camel with it. The Prophet (sal) said, "Some of these animals are like wild animals, so if you lose control over one of these animals, treat it in this way (i.e. shoot it with an arrow)." Before distributing them among the soldiers my grandfather said, "We may meet the enemies in the future and have no knives; can we slaughter the animals with reeds?" The Prophet (sal) said, "Use whatever causes blood to flow, and eat the animals if the name of Allah has been mentioned on slaughtering them. Do not slaughter with teeth or fingernails and I will tell you why: It is because teeth are bones (i.e. cannot cut properly) and fingernails are the tools used by the Ethiopians (Bukhari)
All of these hadiths prove beyond doubt that eating camel meat is halal in Islam.
